Our Story

Where every piece tells its own story

The Mahala Workshop came out of a need to escape the everyday routine — work, obligations and a pace that keeps repeating itself. At some point I was looking for a way to switch my head off and make something with my hands, something genuinely relaxing and fulfilling. That is how the idea came about to set aside a room in the house and turn it into my own workshop.

The name The Mahala Workshop comes from a personal bond with the mahala — the neighbourhood where I live, and a concept that to me means community, closeness and simple but valuable principles. As a firm believer in those values in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the name is my way of paying tribute to the mahala as an institution of its own and a way of life.

The workshop is equipped for a full range of crafts — from precision electronics and woodwork to metalwork — with everything needed to take an idea from sketch to finished piece. I particularly enjoy the restoration of old objects: radios, cassette players, VHS units, lamps, turntables, brassware, old scales and sewing machines. Each carries its own story, and there is a special feeling in bringing one back to life.

In time I began making new things as well. One of the bigger steps was building my own CNC machine — meaning every product passes through a tool I designed and built myself — which I later upgraded with a laser. That process gave rise to the light box products: handmade pieces of poplar plywood with layered paper designs and RGB LED lighting that creates a distinctive ambient effect. Motifs range from anime and films to fully personalised ideas.

Crafts

Electronics, woodwork, metalwork and restoration — all under one roof.

Innovation

A self-built CNC machine upgraded with a laser — for one-off pieces you will not find anywhere else.

Restoration

We bring old objects back to life — from turntables to old scales and sewing machines.

With soul

Every piece is handmade in a workshop in the mahala — not off a shelf, not from a factory.

If you are after a gift that did not come off a shelf, or an old object that deserves a second chance — you are in the right place.
